SID 2024: FSM is committed to a better internet
To mark Safer Internet Day 2024 (SID) on February 6, the FSM
and various partner organisations organised events to promote greater online safety and a better internet for children and young people. This year's motto in Germany was "Let's talk about porn! Pornography on the net".
Many questions during the all-day Q&A chat
Together with the other partner organisations of the German Safer Internet Centre experts from the FSM hotline answered questions from young people, parents and teachers. The Q&A chat covered a wide range of topics: from questions about rules for class chats, possible porn consumption by children and role models conveyed by porn, everything was covered. The Safer Internet DE network was able to answer all these questions thanks to the collaborative work of media education, law and counselling experts.
High attendance at virtual parents' evening
At the virtual parent's evening organised by Elternguide.online around 160 participants learned what the ban on pornography means for children and young people in practice. But also, what to do if young people come across this material nonetheless. Participants received tips on what protection options are available and gained practical insights to help them talk about sexual education and pornography in the family. Speakers Martin Bregenzer (klicksafe) and Sven Bischoff (FSM) shared their knowledge and were available for further discussion.
