Hotline & Network Updates
Welcoming ATKM, Netherlands
We are proud to welcome ATKM (Authority for the Removal of Terrorist Content and Child Sexual Abuse Material) as an official member of the INHOPE network. As our second member in the Netherlands, ATKM represents a significant step forward in strengthening national and international collaboration to combat child sexual abuse material (CSAM) online.
Tell us a bit about your hotline
ATKM is an independent governmental body established in 2023. It operates under national legislation aimed at combating the spread of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) online, as well as legislation focused on terrorist content online. Based on the administrative law on combating online CSAM, ATKM is authorised to order communications service providers, including hosting service providers, to take all reasonable measures to disable access to such content. ATKM brings a unique perspective to the INHOPE network, as it not only has a mandate to penalise and proactively search for CSAM but is also focused on terrorist content online (TCO).
What inspired you to join the network?
Joining the INHOPE network offers us the opportunity to exchange information with other hotlines and gain access to ICCAM. This enables us to contribute to the prevention of further distribution of CSAM beyond ATKM’s jurisdiction.
What do you see as the greatest benefit of becoming a member?
The greatest benefit is the ability to share information we uncover during our proactive searches with other hotlines through ICCAM. Additionally, we are able to collect information that could help us stop the spread of CSAM originating from the Netherlands.
What is your hotline’s primary mission?
Our primary mission is to prevent the further distribution of online CSAM and terrorist content online.
What is your vision for the future?
We envision a strong network of regulators and hotlines that enables swift action against bad actors.
