About
This webinar is about the impact that sharing non-consensual explicit content has on a child. In 2021, ECPAT Sweden conducted a survey answered by almost 13,000 children. ECPAT Sweden used this material to investigate children´s experiences of having intimate images or videos shared without consent and these findings will be shared and discussed. There is a large number of free-text responses in the material which provides an in-depth understanding of how voluntarily produced material is transformed when shared with a larger audience for whom it was not intended.
ECPAT Sweden's results show that the consequences are serious and long-lasting for the affected children regardless of the circumstances under which the image was created. This webinar intends to create a better understanding of the context in which intimate images are produced, sent and shared by children. It challenges many of the narratives that the adult world uses to understand children's actions and shows new ways to protect them from sexual exploitation through dialogue with affected children
We recommend this webinar to child protection organisations, helplines, hotlines, academics and educational systems.
