SafeLine and Greek Law Enforcement sign Memorandum of Understanding

After many years of cooperation, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed on November 10th of 2022, between the Greek Police and SafeLine, the Greek Hotline against illegal internet content, to prevent and combat the trafficking of illegal child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on the internet.


With the Memorandum of Understanding, the cooperation between the two Agencies becomes more powerful. The Greek Hotline SafeLine.gr is forwarding to the Greek Police reports related to the production and distribution of online illegal content (images and videos) of child sexual abuse, especially URLs with such content, or anything related to violation of the sexual dignity of minors.

At the same time, is sought the two-way exchange of statistical data and published reports between the Agencies, relevant to the subject of the Memorandum. The Chief of the Greek Police, Lieutenant General Konstantinos Skoumas pointed out:
"The signing of the memorandum of Understanding with SafeLine.gr -FORTH is yet another practical implementation of the long-term commitment of the Greek Police to prevent and combat all forms of crime, especially those committed against minors."

From her side, the Scientific Manager of the Greek Safe Internet Center of FORTH, Prof. Paraskevi Fragopoulou stated: “We are today pleased to formalize our long-standing cooperation with the Greek Police and in particular with the Cyber Crime Division. We hope that this cooperation will become closer and closer with the aim of defending and protecting minor internet users who unfortunately face thousands of challenges every day".
