Why do you work at INHOPE?
I moved here in August 2019 to study Communication Science at the University of Amsterdam. After working part-time in customer service, for an organisation that I did not feel comfortable supporting, I wanted to make sure that the first step into my professional career within my field aligns with my values and represents what I believe in.
It was important to me to find an organisation that I can be proud to be a part of and that one that genuinely contributes to a good cause. I got super lucky with INHOPE because not only is the work that we do incredibly important, the integrity with which every member of our team does their work is truly motivational.
What brought you to the Netherlands?
I was born in Kharkiv the second biggest city in Ukraine, before my parents decided to move to Munich, Germany. I feel very privileged to have been able to grow up in a city as clean and safe as Munich, but after a while, the Christian Bavarian culture started to feel suffocating and I decided to study abroad. Compared to Munich, the young and international atmosphere of Amsterdam is like a fresh breath of air.
Tell us something we don’t know
Growing up in the South of Germany, hiking was a big part of my life. Since I was three years old almost every single weekend was spent exploring the Alps with my parents. When I finished high school I fulfilled a dream of mine and travelled to Nepal to hike the Manaslu circuit trek. To this day, crossing the Larke Pass on day 9 of our hike is the most physically challenging but also rewarding experience of my life.
