APLE Partners with Cambodia’s Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport to Strengthen Child Online Safety Education

On December 13, 2024, the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport and APLE Cambodia signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their commitment to promoting Internet safety in schools.

The MoU was signed by Her Excellency Kim Sethany from the Ministry and Mr. Samleang Seila from APLE. This partnership aims to protect children from online harm. It focuses on creating tailored resources to integrate online safety education in school curricula and enhancing schools' capacity to deliver this important subject. The initiative will involve school management, teachers, education officials, parents, community members, and children, emphasizing the shared responsibility of creating a safer digital environment for Cambodia’s children.

The MoU represents a significant advancement in APLE’s mission to improve child online protection and address online child sexual exploitation and abuse (OCSEA) through preventive education and community involvement. As online threats continue to evolve, this partnership underscores the need for proactive measures. Protecting children requires urgent and coordinated action.

The collaboration between APLE and MoEYS sends a clear message: the time to act is now.
