SigurOnline Hotline Participates in Roundtable Discussion

On January 24, 2025 representatives from public authorities, the private sector in information technology, hosting companies, and the Siguronline Hotline participated in a roundtable discussion “Partnership for Online Child Safety: Regulations and solutions for removal of illegal content.” The meeting aimed to analyze and improve the national legal framework for preventing and combatting child sexual abuse facilitated by information technologies.

The discussions emphasised the importance of constructive dialogue regarding recent legislative changes in cybercrime prevention and also the need for collaboration between the private sector and authorities to effectively remove illegal content from the internet and ensure a safer digital environment for children.

A key topic discussed was the Draft Government Decision related to the procedure for blocking access to websites or removing online content used to commit crimes. Representatives from private ICT companies addressed opportunities for collaboration to remove child sexual abuse materials from the digital space, discussing the challenges and potential solutions.

Participants were also introduced to the Standard Operating Procedures of the national reporting mechanism for child sexual abuse materials. The collaboration between the International Center "La Strada," the General Police Inspectorate, and hosting companies was explained, focusing on the process of reporting and removing illegal content from the online environment.

Overall, the meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation and create a more effective approach to protecting children from online abuse.
