NMHH Internet Hotline on a study visit at the IWF
The Internet Hotline Hungary (IH) recently had the incredible opportunity to spend two days at the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) in the UK, which was a truly eye-opening experience. The visit was self-funded by the NMHH and the idea was inspired INHOPE's Peer-to-Peer programme.
From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by IWF’s well-structured daily operations and on-going projects, and it was great to how thy tackle the same issues we face at IH from a different angle. We had the chance to dive into their research on topics like cryptocurrency tracking and the operation of pyramid-style websites linked to CSAM – fascinating and highly relevant for our work as well.
A highlight of the trip was learning about their applied staff welfare practices, something we can all relate to. Their focus on mental health and supporting analysts who deal with challenging content daily really resonated with us. On top of that, we had the chance to work alongside their experienced analysts, which was both inspiring and educational.
We left the IWF with fresh ideas and valuable knowledge that we are eager to integrate into our own practices and daily routines at IH. The visit reaffirmed our shared goal of making the online space safer for children. The analysts of IH are extremely grateful to the entire IWF team for being such gracious hosts and for sharing their expertise with us. We had a fantastic time and we appreciate the time and effort that the IWF put in during our visit!
