In June, INHOPE and its affiliated hotlines received media attention from Finland’s public broadcaster YLE, several local radio stations, and a national media outlet.


This coverage stemmed from an interview given by an advisor from the Finnish Hotline, Nettivihje, discussing the hosting and distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on Finnish servers and data centers. The resulting article highlighted a notable increase in received CSAM reports hosted in Finland in 2024. The journalist emphasised the broader rise in CSAM-related reports across the INHOPE network, marking a significant shift compared to previous years.

Beyond the issue of material hosted within Finland, the article also addressed the urgent need for EU legislation that would mandate companies to take stronger action against the spread and dissemination of CSAM.
