Finnish Hotline’s Annual Seminar 2024
Finnish Hotline Nettivihje organised its annual seminar in November. This year, the selected theme was children’s right to know what happens after a sexual crime has been committed against them. The seminar was named “What is happening next? – Open discussions about the work of authorities in child sexual abuse cases.”
The presenters covered topics including police investigations of child sexual abuse cases, the legal process from a victim’s perspective, supporting victims of sexual violence, and recovery from such experiences. Presentation titles included “They Know What They’re Talking About – Youth Talk About Sexual Violence” and “Support, Safety, and Investigation – How to Combine Services in Cases of Child Sexual Abuse.” Together, the presentations provided a comprehensive overview of the roles authorities and various organisations play when addressing sexual crimes against children.
The seminar was held at Save the Children Finland’s headquarters in Helsinki as a hybrid event, with 25 participants attending in person and approximately 300 online views. Feedback for the event was excellent, scoring 4.5 out of 5 on the feedback form. Hosting such seminars is an annual tradition for Nettivihje, which hopes to continue this initiative in 2025.
