Finnish Hotline Publishes Self-help Program for those with Sexual Interest in Children

INHOPE’s network of hotlines works every day to get Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) removed from the internet, and prevention initiatives are an important aspect of the work we do. The Finnish Hotline, Pelastakaa Lapset – Save the Children Finland has published updated self-help resources for people with a sexual interest in children.

The self-help program is suitable for anyone who needs to modify their thoughts and activities related to sexual interest in children. The program is completely anonymous, and responses will not be saved. This self-help program is intended for mild to moderate symptoms. The program is usable by people of any age, 24/7 and free of charge. Users can also choose to complete the entire program or select parts of it. The program can be used in addition to other treatments or independently.

The Program can be used also as a tool for professionals. The whole tool or parts of it can be used to support groups or individual meetings. A professional can support and guide the user in doing the exercises. Usually, users would have 1–3 meetings during the course of the self-help program. The meetings can be used, for example, for discussing thoughts that have arisen while doing the exercises and considering which exercises are most suitable.

The updated self-help program has been produced in collaboration between Save the Children Finland and HUS Psychiatry. To access the self-help program click here. The program is also available in Finnish and Swedish.
