On 25 July, the conference 'The Rights of Children and Adolescents in the International Context,' organised by Telefono Azzurro and Fondazione Child, took place in Rome. This conference served as a crucial platform for exchanging knowledge and addressing the urgent need to ensure a safe and protected childhood for all children.


Panelists highlighted that countless children continue to suffer from various forms of sexual abuse and exploitation. Factors such as conflicts, poverty, natural disasters, and forced migration significantly exacerbate the risk of violence, abuse, and exploitation, especially among vulnerable children. In response to these challenges, Telefono Azzurro and Fondazione Child have proactively taken tangible actions on an international level to protect children from abuse and uphold their human rights.

During this event, Professor Caffo reiterated the organisations’ commitments to placing children at the forefront of international efforts for the protection of their rights in accordance with international norms. These commitments are pursued through collaborative efforts and multi-stakeholder cooperation with other international organisations, European and global networks, universities, the Holy See, and both national and European institutions.

The discussions highlighted the crucial need for targeted actions to prevent all forms of violence against children and strengthen protection for victims of abuse, exploitation, and trafficking. International and national cooperation remains pivotal to achieving the shared goal of combating child sexual abuse. Ultimately, Professor Caffo underscored that safeguarding the rights and well-being of children represents not only a moral imperative for the global community but also a fundamental investment for a sustainable future.
