Child Protection in France: Point de Contact at the Forefront

On September 22, Point de Contact welcomed Charlotte Caubel, Secretary of State to the Prime Minister for Children. This important visit, taking place during the government's new awareness campaign on sexual violence against minors “Breaking the Silence” (Brisons le silence), was an opportunity to hold important discussions about our hotline activities within scope of Safer Internet France and INHOPE.

The conversations focused on the reality of the content dealt with by hotline analysts, including the problematic increase in self-generated content and the non-consensual dissemination of intimate content of minors. The presence of law enforcement partners like the new Office for Minors (OFMIN) and the National Centre for the Analysis of Child Pornography Images (Centre National d'Analyse des Images Pédopornographiques) demonstrated the effectiveness of the public-private Innovation Lab. In the context of the implementation of the European Digital Act Services, Point de Contact reminded how vital it is that all members of the public know how and where to report harmful content.

Point de Contact keeps being committed to working alongside the government and all its partners to continue to make child protection a priority, both online and offline. Visit Point de Contact's website here.
