Italy’s National Day of Listening to Minors

The second edition of the event “A child who is listened to will become a confident adult” brought together voices, experiences, and reflections on some of the most pressing challenges facing children and adolescents today

At the heart of the discussion were themes such as psychological well-being, bullying and social exclusion, and the growing impact of digital environments and artificial intelligence on young people’s daily lives. Students, experts, and professionals contributed to a rich and meaningful exchange, offering diverse perspectives and practical insights.

We would like to thank all the students and speakers who made this event so engaging and thought-provoking.

As President Ernesto Caffo emphasized: “Listening is never a neutral act: it is the moment when silence turns into words and discomfort can finally emerge. Recognizing children and adolescents as individuals with the right to be heard means offering them a real space to be understood before their suffering becomes entrenched. Today more than ever, in the face of increasingly complex challenges involving mental health, relationships, and the digital dimension, listening represents an essential safeguard for protection, prevention, and the building of the future.”

The event took place simultaneously across three cities: Milan, Rome, and Palermo, reinforcing a shared, nationwide commitment to placing listening at the center of child protection and well-being.
