In February, Red PaPaz participated in the II Annual Partner Meeting of the What Works to Prevent Violence Initiative, a space that brought together researchers and practitioners committed to evidence-based violence prevention.
During the meeting, we shared progress on our collaboration with Swansea University and the Universidad Nacional de Colombia to adapt Project DRAGON-S for Spanish-speaking contexts in Latin America. This work focuses on ensuring that prevention tools addressing online grooming and technology-facilitated sexual violence against children are culturally relevant, linguistically accessible, and usable in low-connectivity settings.
The adapted version, DRAGON SHIELD, is designed to support caregivers, educators, and frontline professionals in identifying risk signals, strengthening prevention practices, and responding early to harmful situations in digital environments. The process integrates local evidence, practitioner insights, and a care-centered approach to digital safety.
This initiative reinforces the importance of international collaboration and contextual adaptation in preventing online sexual exploitation and abuse of children, particularly in regions where access to tailored prevention resources remains limited.
